You’re Always Moving Forward

Have you ever felt like you were regressing instead of moving forward — sure you’ve moved into the flow toward your dreams, only to find yourself repeating old, self-defeating behaviors?

If you’ve had an Aha! Moment, taken an inspired leap forward, or experienced any other shifts in your life, it’s impossible to go backward. It only feels like that. The truth is that, unless you’re experiencing a serious mental illness, you can’t go back to seeing and being in the world in the old way.

In fact, recognizing the slip into old behavior patterns is validation of this truth. Before you wouldn’t have recognized the pattern, you would have simply been in the middle of acting out within it. Sometimes, it’s only a matter of needing to reinforce the new shift in perspective. An inspired action step may need to be repeated a few times. But each time you repeat it, you’re not really repeating it. You’re engaging in that same action step with more confidence and experience than you did before. So, the next inspired action called for will be easier to take.

Are you being asked to repeat or re-plant some inspired action steps? Like the re-planting of seeds in a garden, you're never repeating (using the same seeds). You're always incorporating what you've learned into what appears to be a repeat.

Are you being asked to repeat or re-plant some inspired action steps? Like the re-planting of seeds in a garden, you're never repeating (using the same seeds). You're always incorporating what you've learned into what appears to be a repeat.

I’m reminded of a recent conversation with my friend, Nishi, who has become quite the avid gardener. She’s turning more and more of her backyard into a delightful mix of vegetables, herbs, and flowers to nourish her body, mind, and spirit. While showing me all that she’s done, she remarked that it’s time to re-plant, refresh, and renew the garden, as we head into the hot summer here in Austin.

Nishi will be repeating steps she already took earlier this year, but with more confidence and wisdom than she executed them in the past. She’s moving forward into becoming a serious gardener, one inspired action step at a time.

What seeds did you plant at the beginning of this year? Is it time to re-plant? Is it time to shift in a new inspired direction, given all the wisdom you’ve gained in the past few months?

If you’re called to repeat an action step (again!), trust that it’s always for your highest good, in Divine Right Order, and in Divine Right Time and is simply signaling you’re getting ready for an even bigger expansion or action step.

What action are you inspired to take today?

And, for all my friends celebrating Easter today, may the uplifting celebration of renewal and eternal life carry over into a celebration of your life and your many blessings.
