Dear Dianna,
One morning I woke up with the phrase, "On a clear day you can see forever," playing in my head over and over. I felt compelled to head to the computer, check out YouTube to see if there was a clip of Barbra Streisand singing this song, from the musical play and movie On A Clear Day You Can See Forever. There was (of course), so I found myself listening to the song over and over and really hearing the lyrics for the first time.
On a clear day, rise and look around you. And you'll see who you are. On a clear day, how it will astound you that the glow of your Being outshines every star.
You'll feel part of every mountain, sea, and shore. You can hear, from far and near, a world you've never heard before. And on a clear day...on that clear day...you can see forever and ever more!
-Alan Jay Lerner (lyrics) and Burton Lane (music).
How many "clear" days or moments have you experienced recently? These days and moments are vital, for they remind us how powerful we are and how we are connected to every living person, place, and thing on this planet and beyond.

It's easy to get caught up in all of our mistakes, problems, and challenges, but those clear days and moments are times when your Soul reveals to you who you REALLY are.
What if you could know before every major encounter, presentation, or conversation "that the glow of your Being outshines every star?" What if you could realize that when you are coming from a place of joy and true self-acceptance your physical energy truly does radiate out and positively influence those around you? And, you'll attract in the kind of connections and successes that you desire.
If you're willing to consider the possibility, then it behooves you to consider how you can mentally put yourself in that state—in a clear day frame of mind.
What helps you wake up to a clear day? For me, a walk in nature on a literally clear, warm (not hot) day does it. Spending time enjoying the company of close friends, or being inspired by a musical performance, speech, or even a workshop or retreat can elevate my perceptions as well.
Recently, I had a wonderful conversation with a dear friend that left me feeling empowered and ready to take on the world. Sometimes a friend can mirror back to us-when we really need it-how incredible we are when we're not able to see it. My friend Jim helped me out of a jam and in the conversation we had he gave me an even more precious gift-the gift of his faith in me.
Interestingly enough, this conversation happened after I had begun to have a few, small "clear day" moments and some other truly helpful conversations with friends. Once I started generating these moments-even if they only lasted a second or two to start with-they began to snowball, with more and more carrying me out of a tough situation into a time of joy and confidence in myself.
If you feel a need to receive a reminder of how fabulous you are and how connected you are to all of the world around you, then begin to remember when those clear days or moments usually happen for you.
Do any of these experiences below help you get into a clear day frame of mind?
- Receiving praise for a job well done;
- An unexpected hug from someone you adore;
- Falling in love;
- Exploring a new place (city, park, or even store);
- Working in the soil, planting a new garden;
- Arriving at the golf course, early in the morning;
- Rowing on a peaceful river or lake;
- Sharing a delicious meal and conversation with friends;
- Remembering and visualizing some past successes;
- Sitting quietly in a sacred space (however you define it);
- Sitting around a campfire or looking at the stars late at night;
- Experiencing an amazing play, concert, or other performance; or,
- ??? Your own special reminder of how amazing you are.
Whatever works for you, consider creating a short visualization that you can use to take you to a place or encounter that reminds you that you are "part of every mountain, sea, and shore" and that helps you to truly hear and connect with a "world you've never heard before." Or, grab a photo that captures the moment and look at it regularly to inspire you.
I recently sent the photo below to the women who attended the first Hawaiian New Year, New You vacation retreat. I heard from a few of them that they really appreciated seeing the photo, as it took them back to that joyous, relaxing experience. If the photo lights you up, you might want to join me for the second annual New Year, New You Hawaiian Vacation Retreat, as the photo was taken by me from my balcony. Yes, I got to look at this view for 7 days!

Even with a few clouds in the sky, this picture immediately brings me to a clear day state of mind. What picture does that for you?
Another way to tap into this wonderful energy is to "rise and look WITHIN you," spending some time connecting with your Highest Self or Soul —the part of you that is always connected and realizes your true brilliance. Consider meditating to get in touch with this part of yourself. Also, look deep into your eyes in a mirror and see if you can catch glimpses of her or him. What would she or he say about "the glow of your Being?"
Perhaps all of this sounds a bit "airy, fairy" to you. Don't be fooled. When you are clear on who you are and fully accept and appreciate yourself, you are at your most charismatic and energetic. Imagine the things you can accomplish when you're this powerful. And, on that clear day, you will see all of the possibilities in front of you, and see your path to success unfold before you.
